No qualms from Flynn

Former Meath great Bernard Flynn.

Mullingar Shamrocks manager Bernard Flynn admits that the best team won on the day in their county SFC final defeat to Garrycastle.

The Meath All-Ireland winner states in this week's Westmeath Examiner that Garrycastle got their tactics spot on in last Sunday's county final.

The former Leinster club champions were ahead at half time, despite playing into a gale force wind during the first half and they kicked on in the second period to win by six points.

"The lads gave me everything, but we just came up short," said Flynn. "Five or six big players didn't perform and we couldn't carry that.

"They are a young team and, for a lot of them, it was their first time in this situation. But fair play to Garrycastle, they got it spot on, particularly against the wind in the first half."
