Garrycastle's Dessie Dolan

Garrycastle have qualified for another Westmeath senior football final after cruising to a 1-14 to 0-6 victory over Coralstown /Kinnegad at Cusack Park.

Dessie Dolan Snr's charges never looked back after corner forward Conor Cosgrove scored the only goal after just 50 seconds. They went on to lead by 1-7 to 0-3 at the break, and with James Dolan shooting five points from play and his cousin Dessie three from frees, coasted in the second half.

Garrycastle will have to wait another week to discover the identity of their final opponents after Mullingar Shamrocks staged a brilliant second half comeback to force a 1-12 apiece draw with town rivals St. Loman's.

A well-taken John Heslin goal after the ball had come back off the upright helped the holders to a 1-6 to 0-5 interval lead, but a Lorcan Smyth major midway through the second period enabled Bernard Flynn's charges to fight back and earn another bite at the cherry.
