Stuart-Trainor confident of winning start

June 11, 2014
Athlone joint-manager Tom Stuart-Trainor knows that they face a tough task in their Westmeath SFC opener against neighbours Garrycastle.

The 2014 championship campaign throws in this weekend and when these two sides were drawn together in the first round, it was immediately billed as the tie of the round.

Garrycastle have had far more success than their fierce rivals in recent years, but Stuart-Trainor is confident that their young guns can turn the tables this weekend.

"We are relatively confident about what we can do but completely aware of Garrycastle's strength and experience," Stuart-Trainor told the Westmeath Independent.

"Garrycastle have set the standard in the county for the past decade. We will give youth its chance but we also need to get the right balance in the side, having some more experienced lads to see us through tough moments."
