Ballycomoyle Notes

April 13, 2014
Ballycomoyle Gaelic Football Club was heartbroken to hear of the passing of teenager Eoin Fagan on Saturday.

The 14 year old student passed away in Crumlin Hospital after a brief illness and his remains returned to his home in Castlepollard on Sunday evening.

Eoin played in the number 5 jersey at wing half back in Ballycomoyle and his coach Stephen Reilly described him as "a young gossun that was going to be an important footballer for Ballycomoyle, a club his father Eugene helped to found".

"He was genuine and kind and we had great laughs at training. The child did not show one second of malice or spite on or off the pitch, he showed only heart and courage and fair play. He had great leadership qualities for such a young lad and great determination.

Speaking for the club, Stephen said: "We are all in shock. Ballycomoyle offers our deepest, deepest sympathies to the Fagan family and we offer them our love and support."

Eoin Fagan's funeral will take place on Wednesday 16th April to St. Michaels Church, Castlepollard at 12 noon. Burial afterwards to adjoining cemetery. House strictly private on Wednesday morning please. Family flowers only. Donations to Crumlin.

Ballycomoyle, as a mark of respect for our player Eoin, has cancelled all training and matches until after Easter Monday. This includes all underage training and Gaelic for Girls. The club extends its sympathies to the Fagan and Gallagher families for their loss and we also extend our sympathy to our young players, who have lost their friend.
