Intermediate Championship
We played out third game in this championship last Friday evening in Cusack Park. The opposition on this occasion were St. Brigid's and the game began very tamely. There was very little intensity on either side for the first half hour, but a fortuitous goal from distance by Shane Clavin put us in the driving seat and at half time we led by 1-4 to 0-2. It was St Brigids who started the second half more brightly and converted three early points. They also had two clear cut goal chances but failed to take them, and at the end of the game this ability was the difference between the two teams as Castletown scored four further goals to take the points by 5-10 to 0-9. Both teams have plenty of scope for improvement and no doubt if we meet again later in this year's championship we will face a sterner test than we did last Friday evening. Team: Michael Garvin, Frankie Deegan, Diarmuid Garvin, Dean McDermott, Michael Heeney, Liam Varley, Eoin Quinn, Derek Gallagher (Capt.), Colin O'Brien, Shane Clavin, Alan Mangan, David Langan, Sean Whelan, Emmett Dalton, Patrick Clarke. Subs Used: Darren Ruane, David McCormack, Robert Burge, Ciaran McDonnell, Shane Heraty.
