Senior Championship
St Lomans 1.17 Garrycastle 1.06
St Lomans played last year's finalists Garrycastle in the second round of the senior championship in Cusack Park on Sunday evening last. The game was played under perfect sunny conditions in the county grounds.
Paul Sharry opened the scoring with a point in the opening seconds after Ciaran Kilmurray won the ball almost immediately from the throw in. Goalkeeper James Mc Kenna made a wonderful save to deny Garrycastle a certain goal and a John Heslin pointed free soon followed to give St Lomans a two point lead. Garrycastle were quick to respond with a goal and a point that gave them the upper hand. St Lomans were not to be deterred and a period of domination followed with points from Kelvin Reilly, Conradh Reilly and John Heslin. St Lomans dominance was used to full effect when Paul Sharry cut through the Garrycastle defence to rattle the net. John Heslin added two points to his account with Garrycastle pointing either side of these scores to leave just three points between the sides at half time.
St Lomans made a blistering start to the second half and points in the opening quarter from John Heslin(3), Kelvin Reilly, Shane Dempsey and Paul Sharry gave the blues a commanding lead. Garrycastle tried in vain to battle back into the game but a wonderful defensive performance from St Lomans made the result inevitable. Gary Glennon, Paul Sharry and John Heslin capped wonderful personal displays with points in the closing stages and St Lomans finished the game comprehensive winners as the final whistle sounded.
This was a great team performance from St Lomans with the defence putting in a flawless display. Ciaran Kilmurray and Brian Murphy were ever present in midfield and a big scoring return was just reward for the forward line.

Division 1
St Lomans Mullingar 2.19 Tubberclair 0.07
Tubberclair were the visitors to Lakepoint Park on bank holiday Monday to contest the Division 1 League. The return of county players ensured a near full strength squad for St Lomans in a match that was played under rare sunny conditions.
St Lomans started the game in determined fashion and four points from John Heslin gave the home side a commanding early lead. Eoin Price and Conradh Reilly were the creators of these early scores and Conradh was soon on song again to set up his brother Kelvin for a well taken goal. Tubberclair registered three points in between these scores to keep in touch but points from Kelvin Reilly, John Heslin, Paddy Dowdall and Eoin Price ensured a strong lead for St Lomans at half time.
The second half continued in similar fashion to the first and an early goal from John Heslin after a wonderful catch put the game beyond doubt. Kelvin Reilly added more points to his tally while Garrett Hickey, Adam Gaffney, Conradh Reilly and Paddy Dowdall also pointed after some well worked team moves. This was a decent team performance and a welcome win after a previous league defeat.
