Congratulations
Congratulations to former Pollard hurler Eddie Thornton who has been given the huge honor of grand Marshall for this year's St. Patrick's Day Parade in Toronto (the city's 25th parade) Eddie was part of the back to back Senior Championship winning sides of 1965 and 1966 emigrating to Canada in 1966.
Membership
Membership for 2012 is now due : €30 for adults, €50 family, €20 for OAPs, and €10 for minors and younger. Players whose membership is not up to date are not insured to train or play with the club. We had 2 players badly injured last year so it is imperative that all players register ASAP. Payments can be made to any of the club officers.
County Team
Congratulations to the Westmeath Senior Hurlers who had a rare but thoroughly deserved, win over Offaly in the quarter-final of the Walsh Cup at Kinnegad on Sunday with a score line of Westmeath 2-13 Offaly 0-12 . Castlepollard were well represented on the day with both Andy Dermody and David Higgins being part of the action along with panellists Darren McCormack, Shane Fagan and Tommy Gallagher who are all on the way back from injury.
Best Wishes
Best wishes to Turin native and well known Inter County Referee James McGrath on his appointment to the teaching staff in Castlepollard Community College as the new Vice Principal.
