Many thanks to David Corcoran and Lough Owel Pitch and Putt Club for the kind use of their splendid facilities for the day, Jonathan Plunkett for providing two magnificent bouncing castles, Emer Dunne for keeping the young kids happy with face painting and our two master chefs on the BBQ for the day, Ciaran McKenna and Kieran Fitzgerald. Special thanks also to Lakeland Interiors and Glazing, Maguire Butchers, Canton Caseys and everyone who helped out on a very enjoyable day. Well done to Dermot Curley on the quick organisation and coming up with such a novel concept. We hope that 2011 will be a bigger and better affair.
U12 Affairs:
The U12s had a much overdue win against Ringtown on Monday evening last in the U12 Championship. The team was outstanding all through the game as Plunketts showed their superior fitness and excellent teamwork to earn a much deserved victory on the day. With five out of six forwards getting on the scoresheet, there was much to be positive about as we now face the trip to meet Southern Gaels in Athlone on Thursday evening.
The following day, there squad headed for an invasion of the West. We spent a wonderful day in Lahinch, first in Seaworld and then having our lunch and some fun activities on the beach. There was a surprise on the way home as we stopped off in Portumna to meet Galway All-Star Ollie Canning for a photo and autograph session. Thanks to all the helpers on the day who worked hard to make sure the operation went off well.
Best wishes to Aidan Keena, who fractured his finger during training last week and Brian Reidy who took a nasty blow to the wrist during a challenge game on Saturday. We hope they recover and get back on track for the remainder of the season soon.
U10 Match:
Our U10s kept the ball rolling last Saturday with a challenge against Wolfe Tones from Longford in Robinstown. The home side had a good win with Jamie Kindregan, Aaron Kelly & Padhraic McKenna in commanding form in the back lines. There was also some very good displays from Brian Reidy & Matthew Cunningham in the forwards as well as Luke Maguire & Jonathon Lynam in midfield while Adam Smith grew in stature as the game went on. Team:Cormac Donoghue, Trevor Keena, Aaron Kelly, Jamie Kindregan, Adam Smith, Trevor Keena, Robbie Greville, Luke Maguire, Jonathon Lynam, Matthew Cunningham, Shane Murtagh, Matthew Cunningham, Nathan Woods, Padhraic McKenna.
