Killucan club notes

August 03, 2010
On Sunday evening last, our lads Maryland in the 4th round of the Senior football Championship.
The game got off to a cautious start, with scoring at a premium. Both defences were dominating and after 12 minutes it was still only one point each. Things improved in the 2nd quarter before a Paul Greville goal to left us three points in the lead with just five minutes remaining in the first period. Maryland kept themselves in contention with a point to leave Killucan leading 1-04 to 0-05 at half time.
In the second half, Killucan settled the quicker of the two teams with a further two points to stretch their lead to 4 points. The Saffrons went on to dominate the second half with no less than seven players getting on the teamsheet. A further goal by Jimmy Nugent put the polish on a great result. A great team performance and a quarter final spot is now secured..
Team; D. Bryan, J. Greville, F. Boyle, S. Morley, C. Leech, J. Shaw, M. Dunne, P. Leavy, C. Jordan, R. O'Reilly, J. Nugent, C. Boyle, Anthony Doyle, P. Greville and B. McKeogh.
Thats three wins on the trot for Killucan now and we are in fine fettle. Next up is Athlone, who are also going well in this years campaign. A win in this fixture would seal that semi-final spot for us. Training continues this Wednesday and Friday at 7;30.
