All to play for in SHC
July 23, 2010
The third round of group matches in the senior hurling championship take place this weekend as teams' battle for places in the knockout stages, while some bid to avoid relegation.
Two double headers will be held at Cusack Park on Saturday and Sunday. The match between St Brigid's and Raharney will have no bearing on the championship as the Dalystown outfit are already relegated, while Raharney have already booked their place in the quarterfinals.
That match has a 6pm throw in and will be followed by the meeting of Castletown Geoghegan and Lough Lene Gaels in a repeat of last year's semi final. Both sides lost last time out and will need a victory to make it through to the knockout stages. Throw in at 7.30pm.
Then on Sunday at 2pm, two former kingpins of Westmeath hurling, Brownstown and Ringtown meet in a relegation battle as the loser will face the prospect of intermediate hurling.
This will be followed by the clash between defending champions Clonkill, who are already through to the knockout stages and St Oliver Plunkett's, who have one win from their opening two matches. Castlepollard have a bye this weekend.
