Mayfield, Cork visit Southern Gaels.
Last June Mayfield, Cork hosted Southern Gaels Under 14 team when they competed in Feile na nGael. All the young hurlers had a wonderful weekend in Cork as they won five matches on their way to their divisional final. However, a National title escaped them as they fell to Michael Breatnach's of Galway in the final. Southern Gaels have now invited the Mayfield side to come to Athlone this coming weekend for a return match. The Cork youngsters will arrive on Saturday February 15th and play a return game with the local side. They will stay overnight and both sides will attend the Westmeath v Cork National Hurling League game in Mullingar on Sunday 16th. The game takes place in Pairc Chiaráin, Athlone GAA on Saturday at 2.00 and anyone looking for some great excitement is welcome to attend. Everyone at the club is looking forward to the weekend, the games and a number of social events associated with the visit particularly on Saturday night in the Athlone clubhouse.
