St Malachy's club notes

Mattie Corcoran Memorial.

St. Malachys GFC would like to invite everyone to the unveiling of a memorial plaque to the late Martin (Mattie) Corcoran on Saturday next, 14th of September at 1pm at our club grounds in Castletown Geoghegan.

Mattie was a tremendous servant to our club both as a player and as an official and fostered a great love of both Gaelic games and the Irish language in the local community throughout his life.

His children and grandchildren have continued the proud legacy that Mattie has left and they all continue to assist our club both off and on the field of play.

We hope you can attend this event and share your memories on the day of a gentleman, a character and one of the best clubmen that St. Malachys ever had.

Under 14  Championship

Lilliput Gaels   3-14   , Moate AllWhites  3- 09
Moate were the visitors to Ballinagore on Thursday evening last and made our lads battle all the way in this tough encounter. The game was very evenly balanced in the first half and with Jack Mulligan in fine form from play and frees and Ronan McLavin bringing off some fine saves we went in at half time leading by 2-5 to 0-7. The game was won in the opening quarter of the second half where Philip Reynolds kicked over several long range points and a Peter Murphy goal gave us a twelve point lead with ten minutes left. Moate made a spirited comeback in the final five minutes when they fired in three goals but we held on for a welcome win as we strive for a semi final spot in the premier championship.

Enjoy the game Dave and thank you to our Supporters Club members and all  members who paid their annual membership.

Score Prediction Result

Congrats to All Ireland Football prediction winner Der Garvin. Several entries had the game to end in a draw but Dermot was the only entry to have a 1-16 each entry. The seller's prize went to Matt Kirby and both Dermot and Matt kindly donated their prize money back to our underage clubs. Thanks to all who entered and sold prediction sheets with special thanks to Paul O Neill and Ray Gavigan for organising this fundraiser for two badly needed sets of underage goals.
