Moate All Whites club notes

August 06, 2019

Intermediate Championship

Maryland 1-8 Moate All Whites 0-8

The lads will feel this was another one that got away from them with more than enough chances to win the game. The fact was that our opponents were that bit more clinical when the chances came.At half time we were 3 points down having played against the elements in a game played in constant rain.We started the second half on the front foot with 2 excellent points from Ruairi Cunningham but the turning point came when Maryland put a move together ending with a goal which proved the difference between the teams in the end. There was no shortage of spirit and plenty of decent individual displays with Sean Bracken,Andrew Gorman,Gavin Murray and Ruairi Cunningham to the fore.Hopefully we can raise it now for the last 2 games with everything still to play for.Panel Richie Price,Sean Bracken,Paul Gorman,Callum Jones,Ronan Conway,Andrew Gorman,Conor Claffey,Eoghan Dalton,Ruairi Cunningham,Conor Sheridan,Gavin Murray,David Mullins,Darren Claffey,Robbie Forde,John Corbally,Eoghan Kelly,Dylan Ennis,James Bracken,Jamie Madden,Fiachra Cunningham,Nicky Hamm,Garbhan Cunningham,Owen Higgins

Minor Championship

Moate All Whites 4-11 St Marys 4-7

We came out on top after a cracking battle in the first round of the championship. We had a very young team out but they rose to the occasion and played with maturity beyond their years together with huge determination and no shortage of skill.Owen Higgins is turning into a fine keeper and in front of him Luke Gavin and Michael Henry put in a great hour and Troy Bradley put in arguably a man of the match performance for his second half in particular.Conor Bracken,Eoghan Curran and the superb Tobby Conteh were a scoring threat all game and Fiachra Cunningham,Dylan Nulty and Harry Niall gave us serious work rate when needed most. Our half back line of Eoghan,Garbhan and Jordan gave us a great platform going forward and Jack Moran proved a handful on the edge of the square.Special mention also to young James Costello and Darragh Lowry making their debuts and who both had big games

Under16

The U16 squad travelled to Killucan on Monday evening last to take on the home side in the latest round of the U16 championship.

Down a number of regulars for various reasons some of our U14 players stepped in to help.

The home side started strongly scoring a goal and three points, however our lads kept plugging away and three points on the trot left us three down at half time.

The second half was nip and tuck with both sides having control for periods.

In a match payed in the right spirit throughout a late goal for Moate left apoint between the sides at the finish,

Well done to all players especially the U14's who did their club proud on the evening
