Castledaly club notes

November 26, 2018

Lotto draw Sunday 25th was postponed in respect with sad passing of Tom Fitzgerald, thoughts and prayers with his sisters Mary (Kelly), Anne ( Owens), Marguerite (Casey), brother Frank, and all family and friends. Ar dheis Dé mar a anam.

A very brave heart-filled performance from Castledaly Rosemount was

almost enough to overthrow the strong Athlone team but the winner

strong finish stole the honours in final minutes. Goalkeeper Jordan

Nugent picked up an injury early in the game but Cathal Dolan capably

stepped between the posts. A thoroughly entertaining game from start

to finish but missed chances proved costly and scores from free kicks

from Kevin Stone Sean Pettit plus scores in play from Ben Foxe and Dan

Heavin had us trailing until a top class goal from play from lively

Lorcan Daly took the lead and ended a nervous first half performance

1-7(10) to Athlone 0-8(8).  The lead could have been greater as a

quality team effort set Dan Heavin through for a well taken goal, but

the referee judged a foul earlier in proceedings and strangely opted

to call back play rather than play advantage.

Athlone started strongest in second half but scores from Aaron

Nugent and Lorcan Daly from play plus Ben Foxe free kick and Sean

Pettit 45 free kick  retrieved the lead.  A black card for Dan Heavin

meant both teams had been penalised in similar fashion, but Athlone

hit three scores without reply was enough to clinch victory in the

last minute of play. 1-11(14) to 0-15(15)

A great team performance and we can look forward to much much more

from this young group of players in the years ahead.  Well done to the

squad, the management and selectors, and everyone else from Rosemount

and Castledaly involved for a great job all year.

Castledaly Fit Club continues each week Monday Wednesday Friday with ladies

classes at 7 and gents at 8pm under the expert guidance of Liam Lorcan and

Paulette.

The Walking Track lights are on from 8 to late for club members who

are looking for safe environment for their daily walk at this darker

evenings time of year.  It is always great to see people making use of

this wonderful facility, often followed by quality time at the

playground with our smallest stars.
