U14 Championship Rd5 Result : Weds 29th August Clan na Gael 2-08  vs  Na Piarsaigh 3-07 in Archerstown.

Senior Hurling Championship Rd. 5.

Our Senior Team had a hard fought win over Brownstown in Cusack Park on Tuesday 4th Sept. in Rd5 of the Chamionship. Scoreline Pollard 4-19 Brownstown 3-10.     Pollard got off to a great start and with 5 mins gone were 1-03 to 0-0 ahead, with the scores coming from D.Higgins 0-01, long range free, 0-02 from A.Devine frees either side of a superb J.McCarthy goal following a well worked pass from the tricky K.Brazil. Brownstown reduced the lead following 0-02 from play before the accurate Devine landed another free on 12mins.  Centreback Higgins and Goalkeeper A.Dermody brought off a crucial goalmouth save with Brownstown scoring the resultant ‘65m award.  Pollard scored a further 0-04 up to the 18min, with scores comming from G.Flynn, D.O’Reilly,K.Brazil and J.Rabbite.  Pollard were now 1-08 to 0-03 ahead.  Between the 18th minute and 26min Brownstown scored 2-1 with the goals comming either side of an converted A.Devine free.  On 26mins S.Boylan replaced S.Gilchrist on the Pollard Team with J.McCarthy moving back into the defence. J.Rabbitte scored a fine point on the run with J.McCarthy’s long range free being caught by A.Devine and finished neatly to the net on 30mins. Not to be out done McCarthy landed a long range free with the final puck of the first half.  H/T score Pollard 2-11 Brownstown 2-04.

Brownstown started the second half with a pointed free but again Pollard got off to a flying start with 1-02 scored inside the first 3mins, with S.Boylan combining with K.Brazil to score a  superb goal. The 0-02 comming from C.Dermody and K.Brazil.

Brownstown replied instantly scoring 1-02 to leave the score at Pollard 3-13 Brownstown 3-07. Pollard then went on a scoring spree, from the 19th to 28min adding a further 1-05 without reply. The scores comming from A.Devine 0-04, J.McCarthy )-01 and K.Brazil 1-0. Brownstown with time running out scored 0-03 and Pollards K.Brazil adding another 0-01in injury time following a lengthy D.Higgins clearance.  Final Score Pollard 4-19 Brownstown 3-10.   Pollard now face Clonkill in the Qtr Final on Sun 28th Sept.
