Senior Fixtures

Senior Championship - Castledaly v St Mary’s next Sunday in Ballyinacargy at 6.00pm.  Referee A Coyne .

Last game of competition for Castledaly and chance to repeat high energy entertaining game of skill we been working hard on all year as well as important to maintain this level despite difficult start to year and loss of key players during year.

Senior Result - Castledaly 1-18(21)  Maryland  2-6(12)

An excellent first half performance from Castledaly brought a half time score of Castledaly 0-11(11) Maryland 0-4(4) with Lorcan Dolan scoring twice from play before partnered with Jordan Nugent to punish

Maryland excessive tackling with three free kicks each, plus one free kick from Paul Kelly, while Aaron Nugent and Paddy Holloway added two fine scores from play also.  The second half Castledaly added 1-07 with sub Kevin Stone having an immediate impact to score from play, and Paul Kelly slotted over one point before adding another free kick while Dan Heavin showed great skill to secure his point from play.

The tireless and solid Castledaly defence withstood Maryland attack except two occasions where Maryland broke through with two well taken goals during a strong period of play.  The Castledaly support voiced their concerns but Castledaly players responded by upping their game and reclaimed their advantage immediately.  Niall Duffy and Paddy Holloway were immense in midfield and worked the ball up field through Lorcan Dolan who fed sub Fergal Hynes the ball on the run and the returning journeyman blasted his powerful shot past the Maryland custodian.   With the clock ticking down Liam Fitzpatrick stormed forward from defensive duties to provide Lorcan Dolan the time and space to point from play before Castledaly finished strong through a last minute point from play by the excellent Dan Heavin.  A much improved performance from Castledaly forwards and defence, built on their hard work on training pitch all year and showcasing the talent and skill that grows in their new look team as it gains valuable experience this year, promising thrills and entertainment for the future.
