Rosemount GAA notes

August 07, 2018

Gaa: We took on Castledaly in round 2 of the SFC last Friday night in Athlone. After a good win in round 1, the lads looked to make it two wins from two . Unfortunately we didn't get the best start with Israel IIunga being shown a straight red card after five minutes for a trip on one of the Castledaly players. It was a constant up hill battle after this but our lads never gave in. Points from Sean Pettit , and a goal from Shane Tone got us moving on the scoreboard, but some frees kept Castledaly in the game, as the first half drew to a close. We went in at half time 4 points up. The second half was neck and neck with both sides trading points. We were then reduced to 13 players after Andy McCormack picked up a second yellow. Castledaly struck for two goals, to get them a point in front , and even with two extra players they still couldn't get the better of our lads , with Sean Pettit kicking a point in the last minute to secure a draw. The lads deserve a lot of credit to come back and get a draw and they can hold there heads up as it means we are still undefeated , with three games to play. We now play St Mary's Rochfortbridge next in what is a crucial game.

Walking track lights in the park are now off for the summer months. Only those with membership paid are permitted and insured to use the walking track.
