Crookedwood Club Notes

May 14, 2018

Senior League

Clonkill 0-17 Crookedwood 1-8. We took on Clonkill in the latest round of Division 1 hurling on Friday evening last. There was never much between the sides for most of the game but our fitter opponents finished strongly to run out six-point winners. Team; Alan O Mara, Damien Grifferty, Kevin Orme, Enda Murray, Noel Kiernan, Seamus Savage, Diarmaid Hyland, Eddie Nally, Shane McGovern (1-0), Brian McLoughlin, Barry O Mara (0-8), Johnny Nally, Brendan McCarthy, Ger Brennan, Richie Crowley. Subs used; Emmet Feerick for J.Nally, Mossy Brennan for N.Kiernan

Junior Championship

Crookewood 0-18 Ringtown 1-5. Our first round of the Junior Championship proved a fruitful one as we collected the two points on offer after a comfortable victory over our near neighbours. The final score line does not tell the full story of the game as we held a slender three-point lead at half time. However, our superior scoring power saw us pull away in the last ten minutes to record a deserved victory. The most plasing aspect of this win was the 0-11 scored from play and the wide array of scorers, with all six forwards getting on the scoresheet. Team; Alan O Mara, Mossy Brennan, Kevin Orme, Enda Murray, Ger McGovern, Seamus Savage (0-1), Diarmaid Hyland, Noel Kiernan(0-1), Andy Boyhan, Brendan McCarthy (0-7), Ger Brennan (0-2), Richie Crowley (0-3), Cian Yourell (0-1), Ciaran McGovern (0-1), J.J. Brennan (0-1). Subs used; Emmet Feerick (0-1) for C.Yourell, Antoin Savage for G.McGovern

Westmeath GAA

Well done to Shane McGovern and the Westmeath hurlers on their win over Meath in Round 2 of the Joe McDonagh Cup. Unfortunately, our footballers couldn't replicate the feat and were beaten by Meath in the O Byrne Cup final.

Supermac's Kit for Clubs

It's our turn in the Supermac's Kits for Clubs promotion. What this means is that anytime you buy any meal in Supermac's/Papa John's(Mullingar) over the next few weeks just ask for a token and put it in the Crookedwood Hurling Club box. When we reach 500 tokens, Supermac's will kindly give us some gear for our young lads. We would like to thank Supermacs for this opportunity.
