Westmeath GAA New York
Last Saturday night in Rory Dolan's Restaurant, Yonkers, New York the much-anticipated Westmeath GAA Dinner Dance and awards night took place. As always there was a big presence from our locality and the added attraction of having two former St. Malachys players being honoured on the night certainly made the night for them. Willie Lowry was given the Lifetime Achievement Award and Frank Dalton received the Clubman of The Year award, congrats to the two boys and also to all Westmeath Gaels in New York for keeping the maroon and white to the fore in the USA.
Our grounds are undergoing a major facelift with the installation of the floodlit walkway and that is only the beginning as further plans are afoot. Everyone from both the GAA community and the wider community are invited to the meeting room on Thursday, 12th of April at 8.30pm where plans for the development of a proposed new gym, dressing rooms, stand, meeting rooms and path from village to the park will be revealed. All these ambitious plans will be of huge benefit to all in our community and if everyone rows in behind the upcoming fundraisers we will have facilities to be proud of. Log onto our Facebook page Pairc Mhic Eochagain Pitch Development for up to date photos of walkway and upcoming news.
