U14 Féile

Lilliput Gaels U14 footballers saw plenty of action over the weekend when they took part in this years Féile competition. On Saturday afternoon, we travelled into Springfield to take on the home side and Inny Shamrocks in the group stages. Following a great win over Inny Shamrocks, we played the hosts Mullingar Shamrocks in our second game. This was a tight affair but we prevailed in the end on a 2-02 to 1-03 scoreline. These wins qualified us out of our group for the quarter final which took place against Caulry in Mount Temple on Saturday evening. Our lads were on a roll at this stage and they comfortably saw off the challenge of the home side to qualify for the semi-final. The semi-final was played on Sunday evening in Moate against the home side. This was an absorbing contest throughout and our lads all performed brilliantly against a strong Moate side. With just three points seperating the sides coming into the dying minutes of the game, Moate scored two late goals to seal the win on a 3-08 to 1-05 scoreline. We want to congratulate our players and their mentors on getting so far in the competition, the first time in a long time to reach the last four. We wish Moate all the best in the final. Team: Sean Jackson, Oran Gavigan, Oisin Kiernan, Max Ripley, David Maloney, Peter Murphy, Killian Jackson, Shane Doran, Jack Gannon, Dylan Franzoni, Cathal Elliffe, Shane Corcoran, Conor O'Malley, Andrew Dalton, Jack Mulligan. Subs Niall Claffey, Sean Macken, Phillip Reynolds, Adam Cassidy & Eoin Robinson.

Victory for Ballinagore in Rounders Championship

Ballinagore began their championship campaign against Na Fianna last Sunday afternoon in Tymon Park. Having lost the toss, Ballinagore were first up to bat and managed just two runs against Na Fiannas' five in the first innings. The second batting for Ballinagore saw them out score Na Fianna by three runs to one and this reduced the deficit to a single score. Ballinagore shook off the cobwebs in the third and fourth innings, once again holding Na Fianna to just one run while scoring six of their own to lead 11-7 going into the fifth and final innings. In fact, Na Fianna never scored again while Ballinagore rounded off their first championship victory of the season with four more runs to win on a scoreline of Ballinagore 15, Na Fianna 7. Team: Declan Claffey (Pitcher, 1 Run), Shane Heraty (Catcher, 1 Run), Martin Furey (Short Stop, 4 Runs), Tally Flynn Capt.
