Queally: We must remain focussed

July 11, 2008
Waterford selector Peter Queally believes the Deises will have to remain focussed if they are to advance in this year's All-Ireland Championship. After their massive 21 point defeat of Antrim last Saturday evening, the Ballydurn man believes the first step has been taken but thinks there is a long way to go before Waterford can get to where they want to be. "In the first instance it's a start towards what all of us want to achieve," said Queally. "It's the first real match the team has played under the new management, and there's no doubt that bigger tests lie ahead." In the next round of the qualifiers, Davy Fitzgerald's men will face some tougher opposition and his right-hand-man, Queally knows that the Deises will need to be up to the task if they are to advance. "Any one of four teams, Cork, Dublin, Limerick and Offaly will be no pushover, and we will have to be at our very best to beat them," said Queally. "The important thing is that we are still in the race for All-Ireland honours. The players are razor keen, management too is united in the job, and come Saturday week I'm confident we'll have a team out there doing themselves and their county proud. Queally added:"No one can ask for anything more."
