October 25, 2003
The Late Annmarie Queally It is with deep sadness and regret we record the death of Miss Annmarie Queally, Granan Lower, Kilmacthomas who died following a tragic road accident on Sunday 5th October. Annmarie was the young age of 23 years when taken from her son, Jack, who she loved and had only a short time of two years with. Annmarie's remains were removed from her residence on Tuesday evening, 7th October to all Saints Church, Newtown, where they were received by Fr Brendan Crowley P.P. assisted by Fr John Condon, Fr Jerry Condon, Bro. Isadore from WRH, and also a guard of honour by Centra staff, Kilmacthomas, where Annmarie worked for a period. Annmarie's burial took place in the adjoining cemetery. Chief celebrant was Fr. Brendan Crowley, P.P. assisted by Fr. John Condon, Fr. Callanan, Fr Enright, Fr Gear, Fr Byrne and Fr Dermody. Her sister Nuala Hubbart, and sister-in-law, Avril Queally, read the readings. Her brother, Andy, brothers-in-law, Davy Dunphy and Andy Hubbart, her cousins, Elaine Leahy and Katie Fitzgerald, read prayers of the faithful. Her brother, Richard reflected Annmarie's life as each gift was brought to the alter by sister-in-law, Ciara Queally. Cousins, Marie-Brid Ryan and Carrie Rockett, friends, Esther Dunphy and Sharon O'Shea and work-mate, Lisa, from Owen Dermody's. Her cousin, Sarah Leahy, then recited a poem which she dedicated to Annmarie. Annmarie's brother, Peter, also spoke on behalf of the Queally family, remembering old days and wishing we could all go back.He also thanked everyone for their kindness and help during the sorrowful times. Her cousins, Bridget and Cora Queally, sang beautifully during the Mass, and also played one of Annmarie's favourite songs by Dido, 'ThankYou'. Annmarie was carried on her final journey by her three brothers, two brothers-in-law, and cousin, Paul Leahy, to the family grave, and after graveside prayers she was laid to rest under a blanket of flowers. Annmarie was educated in Newtown NS and Ballyduff NS. She then went to the Mercy Convent secondary school in Waterford. Following this, Annmarie continued her education in completing a secretarial course in Dungarvan Technical College. She then went out on the road of employment where she touched many workmates. Annmarie worked with Owen Dermody bookmakers, where she loved meeting people and had many friends. Annmarie was a very outgoing, bubbly person who loved to socialise. She made many friends whom she loved to meet and this was reflected in the huge cortege at both the funeral and burial. There was one little man in her life who was always with her anywhere she went, her son, Jack, whom she dearly loved. Jack was also a passenger in this horrific road accident and fortunately is making a good recovery in WRH. Annmarie was a also a great supporter of GAA and very proud of her brother, Peter, and loved to shout him on at matches. She was supported her local GAA team, Newtown/Ballydurn, for whom her brothers played. Annmarie also had a great love for music. She is survived by her son, Jack, her parents, Richie and Nellie, her brothers, Peter, Andy and Richard; her sisters, Maisie and Nuala, her brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephew; her aunts, uncles and relatives and friends. May her gentle soul rest in peace. WHAT A DEATH? (Dedicated to Annmarie Queally) When you die, where do you go? A new place? A new life? I don't know. Are you in darkness, fighting your way through the cold? Or are you in a beautiful place, but still want a familiar hand to hold? Eyes filled with tears, whole body feels numb, When you find out someone you love is gone. The world can be cruel, we know that for a fact! A message to people, clean up your act! For Annmarie, we are here today. She will live on in our hearts In her own special way. And with little Jack still here, Annmarie will always be near.
