Ryan left to rue mistakes

December 03, 2014

The Nire captain Shane Ryan admits that they made too many mistakes in the Munster club SFC defeat to Austin Stacks.

Despite playing against 14-men for three-quarters of the match, The Nire could not capitalise on having an extra man.

Twelve wides and scoring just 1-01 from the end of the first quarter to the end of the game, contributed to the defeat.

And Ryan admitted to the Waterford News & Star that they were disappointed with their second half showing in particular.

"The second half just didn't happen for us," said Ryan. "When we got the goal in the second half, a slight mistake in the back line cost us another goal which dampened our spirits for a while.

"We could have pushed on after that but it just didn't happen."
