Hurney calls for Munster SFC change

Waterford's Gary Hurney
Waterford captain Gary Hurney feels that the Munster SFC should be revamped.

Hurney believes that a round robin format involving the four weaker teams in the county should be played before any of these sides have to face Cork or Kerry.

The long serving forward feels that it could reinvigorate the Munster championship, which he stresses to the Waterford News & Star is badly needed.

"Maybe if there was a round robin system where Limerick, Clare, Waterford and Tipp got to play each other. And then the winners who come out on top of that group could go on to play Cork and Kerry," explained Hurney.

"That could be an idea. That would give the weaker sides a chance to get two or three games behind them and build up. Then they would be more prepared and more organised for the rest of the championship."
