Waterfford U16 Camogie team before the Munster U16B final v Cork
WATERFORD U 16s UNFORTUNATE TO CLAIM MUNSTER FINAL VICTORY
Cork 2-8 Waterford 2-6
The Waterford County U 16 team played their first game of the season in the immaculate GAA Grounds in the Gold Coast near Clonea, Dungarvan. Cork were their opponents which was the Munster U16B Final. A very close game of camogie ensued with both teams contesting the ball very keenly on the night, not much separated both sides throughout the game, both sides going in at half time 0-4 each. The second half began as intense as the first with both sides scoring two goals each in this half.Waterford were on top going into the dying minutes of the game and looked as if they had the Munster title, but Cork had other ideas with a long range ball coming in from mid field into the Waterford back line which the Rebel girls took advantage of and whipped the ball into the back of the net. From the puck out the final whistle was blown and it was heartbreak for the Deise side losing out by two points. The final score being Cork 2 -8 Waterford 2 -6. The only consolation for the Waterford girls was that the player of the match went to Cappoquin player Lorraine Bray.
Waterford panel were as follows; Shannon Delanhunty ,Taylor Murray , Hannah Murphy-Nix ,Haley Cox,Rachel Donnelly, Labhaoise Dunbar, Johanna Houlihan, Iona Hefferan(0-1) , Lorraine Bray(0-1), Mia O'Flynn(0-1) , Angela Flynn, Elizabeth McGrath, Molly Curran(1-3), Sara Judge, Niamh Aherne, Kayleigh Veale,Ciara Twomey, SarahMurphy,AislinnOKeeffe, Eimear Walsh, Caoimhe McGrath, Claire Murphy, Catherine Hahesy, Doireann Flynn, Lauren McGregor(1-0),Megan O Connor, Jessica Troy
