The 2012 JJ Kavanagh & Sons Waterford SHC commences this weekend with a full round of games down for decision.

The action gets underway on Friday evening when city rivals De La Salle and Mount Sion come face-to-face in what is arguably the tie of the round at Walsh Park (7.30pm). At the same time, Fraher Field hosts the meeting of Ballyduff Upper and Passage.

Fraher Field also hosts two double-headers on Saturday and Sunday. In Saturday evening's double-header, Fourmilewater take on Roanmore and county champions Ballygunner meet Abbeyside. Then on Sunday evening, Lismore face the host club Dungarvan and Tallow square up to Dunhill.

There will be two more rounds of the hurling championship before Waterford's Munster SHC semi-final against Clare on June 17. Tweet
