De La Salle Claim this years Feile Title

On Sunday last April 29th Grace Dieu was the venue for this years Feile qualifiers. Nine teams took part in this years blitz, namely Clonea Power, Tramore, Cappoquin, St. Annes, Gaultier, Brickeys, De La Salle, Lismore and Dungarvan. As there was an uneven number of teams on the day a preliminary round was played between Clonea and Tramore in which Tramore were the winners, thus qualifying them to play in a quarter-final which was to be against De La Salle. In the next quarteri-final it was Cappoquin V St. Annes in which Cappoquin came out victorious, qualifying them for the semi-final. Gaultier overcame Brickeys in their quarter final while Lismore overcame Dungarvan in their quarter final which earned them a place in the semi-final. In the mean time the losers of each match played for the Shield in which The Brickeys overcame St. Annes in the final on a score line of Brickeys 4 -4 St. Annes 1 -1.

In the Feile semi- finals Cappoquin played Gaultier a very evenly contested game in which both teams remaine scoreless for most of the game until Gaultier snatched a goal in the last ten minutes of the game earning them a place in the final. In the other semi-final it was Lismore who took on hosts De La Salle in which De La Salle comprehensively claimed their place in the final. It was Gaultier who took on the very fancied De La Salle but were unable to surpass them ending in a win for De La salle on a score line of De la Salle 3 -2 Gaultier 0 - 1. De La Salle will now go on to represent Waterford in the All Ireland Feile competition in July which will take place in Dublin.
