Telecommunications company 3 mobile will announce a two-year extension of their sponsorship of Waterford's hurling and football teams today.

The announcement will be made in Carriganore, where the county's teams train. 3, whose CEO Robert Finnegan hails from Dunmore East, came on board as Waterford sponsors in 2010 and have underlined their commitment to the county by agreeing to another two-year deal. 3 also sponsor the Republic of Ireland soccer team.

The news will come as a welcome boost to the Waterford county board whose financial problems have been well documented in recent times. Tweet
