Deise unhappy with "crazy" situation

Waterford County Board are unhappy that the GAA refused to sanction a double-header involving the county's hurlers and footballers this weekend.

The Deise take on Offaly in both games, but instead of a double-header that would have appealed to supporters in both counties, the games will go ahead in different venues at the same time.

Davy Fitzgerald's hurlers take on the Faithful at O'Connor Park, Tullamore at 2.30pm on Sunday afternoon - the exact same time as the football match between the counties gets under way at Fraher Field, Dungarvan.

Waterford GAA chairman Tom Cunningham told the Irish Examiner, "It's a crazy situation. We met the CCCC before the league and informed them about the situation.

"They said they would look into it but we heard nothing since then. It's too late to change anything now but they should have looked at it well in advance. It's disappointing for both counties and very disheartening for supporters."
