U21FC: Tipp start in style

March 10, 2011
Tipperary 1-14
Waterford 1-4

Defending Cadbury Munster U21 football champions Tipperary made a bright start to the 2011 competition with a straightforward victory over Waterford at Fraher Field on Wednesday.

Senior star Conor Sweeney was the star of the show on the night, finishing the game with 1-6, including 1-2 from play.

His 12th minute goal put Tipp in command early on before David Phelan's three-pointer for the Deise hauled the home side back into contention after 20 minutes.

However, the champions had opened up a four-point lead at the interval and Waterford could manage just one further point in the second half.
