Deise suffer 'Brick' blow

Stradbally footballer and Waterford hurler Michael Walsh.
Waterford are set to be without Michael 'Brick' Walsh for the remainder of the National Hurling League campaign after the All Star defender broke his arm during last Sunday's NHL defeat to Galway.

The centre-back suffered the injury during the closing stages of the encounter at Pearse Stadium and could now be out of action for two months.

"It's a massive disappointment to us and it's a big blow to Broke himself," said Waterford boss, Davy Fitzgerald.

"He's the best centre-back in the country and we could have badly done with him at the moment because we have so many experienced players out injured."

There has been some good news for the Deise as of late, in that Dan Shanahan, John Mullane and Ken McGrath have all returned to training and will look to return for their team's next outing in Division One against Limerick next Sunday week.
