McGrath nearing return
February 25, 2010
Waterford star Ken McGrath has admitted that he is edging closer to full fitness following a nightmare spell out through injury.
McGrath missed all of last year's campaign due to a knee injury that has threatened his career, but the Mount Sion clubman has been working hard on his own to regain his fitness.
Waterford manager Davy Fitzgerald has given some of his more senior stars an extended break from the game, but he will be delighted to hear that McGrath is closing in on full fitness.
"I'm mad to play but I'd say I'm a month away from playing," said McGrath. "I'm still trying to build up the knee and it's a very, very slow process.
"I have been training since Christmas but I've been doing no real running, no real aerobic work. I just have to build up the knee and while I'm getting there, it's just a very long process. But I'm mad to play. Fingers crossed, I'll be right."
