Another gong for Mullane

17 December 2009

John Mullane has picked up another domestic accolade after winning the Waterford Hurler of the Year for 2009.

The De La Salle attacker was central in his club's progression to the All-Ireland club SHC final this past season, as well as helping to lead Waterford to the All-Ireland SHC semi-final, where they were pipped by eventual champions Kilkenny.

Other winners include the 'Footballer of the Year' Stephen Cunningham, whose father, Tom, was elected as chairman of the county board last Thursday night, 'Young Hurler of the Year' Philip Mahony (Ballygunner) and 'Young Footballer of the Year' Brian O'Halloran.

The 'Club of the Year' accolade was won by Ballygunner after their success at senior, Under 21 and underage level in 2009.
