Shanahan left out

Tipperary’s Paul Curran gets out in front of Dan Shanahan (Waterford) in the NHL quarter-final at Nowlan Park
27 February 2009

Former Hurler of the Year Dan Shanahan has been surprisingly omitted from the Waterford team for Sunday’s glamour NHL clash with All-Ireland champions Kilkenny at Nowlan Park.

Shanahan makes way for the returning Stephen Molumphy in the only change from the side that defeated Clare last time out. Molumphy’s inclusion at left half forward results in Gary Hurney moving to the opposite wing. Ken McGrath, meanwhile, continues at centre forward.

Waterford (SH v Kilkenny): C Hennessy; E Murphy, D Prendergast, N Connors; R Foley, M Walsh, J Murray; S O’Sullivan, J Nagle; G Hurney, K McGrath, S Molumphy; J Kennedy, S Prendergast, S Walsh.
