Carlow and Longford were the surprise packets of the weekend while Cork provided evidence against Tipperary to suggest that rumours of their demise may have been greatly exaggerated. Check out our team of the week...

1. Shaun Patton (Donegal)

Patton's well-executed kick-out strategy put Derry on the back foot throughout Donegal's six-point victory.

2. Conor Lawlor (Carlow)

The corner-back's injury-time goal applied the gloss to a day that will live long in the memory of Carlow football supporters.

3. Jamie O'Sullivan (Cork)

O'Sullivan was central to a Cork defensive effort that limited Michael Quinlivan, Conor Sweeney & Co to just nine points at Semple Stadium on Saturday evening.

4. Anthony Doherty (Down)

The Mourne County finished with seven points to spare over Antrim and Doherty was a standout performer in their defence.

5. Diarmuid Masterson (Longford)

Longford are through to their first Leinster SFC semi-final in 30 years and Masterson put in a big shift in the win over Meath.

6. Jonny Cooper (Dublin)

Cooper and the Dubs showed no mercy to Wicklow as they went about their business with the minimum of fuss.

7. Daniel Mimnagh (Longford)

Mimnagh was one of 10 players that got on the Longford scoresheet in their 0-16 to 0-14 success at Glennon Bros Pearse Park.

8. Peter Turley (Down)

The experienced Turley laid solid foundations around the middle third of the field for his team's last eight victory over Antrim.

9. Brian Fenton (Dublin)

The Raheny clubman helped himself to 1-3 against the Garden County and there was a touch of class about everything he did.

10. Diarmuid Murtagh (Roscommon)

Murtagh top scored for the primrose and blues with 0-5 in their routine Connacht SFC semi-final win over Leitrim.

11. Ciaran Kilkenny (Dublin)

Another masterclass from Kilkenny who pick-pocketed Wicklow to the tune of 1-7 in Portlaoise.

12. Paul Kingston (Laois)

A hat-trick of goals from the centre-forward sent Laois on the road to an impressive quarter-final win over Westmeath in Tullamore on Saturday evening.

13. Paul Broderick (Carlow)

The clinical Broderick punished Kildare's indiscipline with nine converted free and also chipped in two points from play.

14. Patrick McBrearty (Donegal)

The Kilcar sharpshooter was in top form against Derry and found the target with eight points in total.

15. Luke Connolly (Cork)

The Nemo Rangers clubman's return to the county jersey yielded 0-10 (five from play) in their impressive win over Tipperary.
