A fantastic hard fought win for our hurlers over Fr. Murphys in the Championship sees them unbeaten and puts them in a fantastic position to qualify for the Final with two group games to go. Starting the brighter the Macs raced into a 6 points to 3 lead after 15 minutes, however the Murphys finished the first half stronger and with the help of a fortunate goal outscored their opponents 1-07 to 0-02 in the last 15. Goals from Conor Hogan and Craig Doyle early in the second period brought McCurtains back into the game. Coming into the last 5 minutes they had closed the gap to the minimum when Alan Clancy now playing in Full Forward powered past the Murphys Full Back and along the end line and flicked the sliotar over the oncoming keeper from the tightest of angles to leave McCurtains two up. Murphys couldn't find the answer and some great play from Dean Corrigan made sure of the result.
Our underage Hurlers/Camogs took part in the Fr Murphys Blitz on Sunday morning in Greenford. Playing against the hosts, Kilburn Gaels and Erin Go Bragh the U8's won two out of three, the U11's won all three of their games and the U13's joined up with Erin Go Bragh to play a challenge against Fr. Murphys. It was a great day had and well done to all involved.
Unfortunately the Ladies Footballers and the Reserve Footballers lost out to their Round Towers counterparts at the weekend.
Next weekend the Hurlers play Granuaile in the Championship, the Reserves take on North London Shamrocks also in the Championship while the Ladies Footballers travel to St Slyvesters in Dublin to take part in the All Ireland Intermediate 7s Tournament.
