Western Gaels GAA Club Bristol Club Notes
June 26, 2008
A massive congratulations must go to all of the Western Gaels players involved in helping Gloucestershire win their first ever British Junior Championship after defeating Warwickshire on a score-line of 1-12 to 0-06. Gloucestershire were captained by Western Gaels player Brian McCarthy, and now face the winners of the Leinster Junior Championship in the All Ireland Semi-final.
The Gaels were represented on the pitch by Johnny Mailey, Phil Brash, Stuart Rooney and the afore mentioned McCarthy, with all playing in key positions, Rooney covering almost every position at one time or another during the game. Anton Bolton was unfortunate to miss out on the day due to his ferry being cancelled, with Michael Hughes missing out with a pre-planned holiday. Ryan O'Neill was selector & trainer for manager, Cardiff's Phil O'Connor.
The club will be hosting a Night at the Races, in Avonmouth Old Boys RFC on Saturday 19th July, please contact Johnny Mailey for more details. Support for the event will be very much appreciated.
