Fr Murphy's Ladies Notes

July 17, 2014
In very muggy conditions Fr. Murphy's played out an intriguing senior league game against Tara's.

Very early on Tara, opened up a three points to one advantage, but then two points from Lorraine Dolan and a long range strike from centre back Sarah Burns, had a the girls in purple&gold a point to the good.Tara equalised, then Lorraine Dolan cut through and sent an unstoppable shot to the top of Tara's net, to leave Fr Murphy's ahead 1-04 to Tara's 0-05 at the break.

When the game resumed it was again Tara were first out of the block's, with a goal and a point to lead 1-06 to 1-04, Murphy's came storming back, with Rosie Cully making several good runs from wing back, at the end of one such run her blistering shot came back off the crossbar and was cleared, Shona Cunningham, who had an outstanding game, struck two great points to level the game and then newcomer Lorna Trainor slotted over a fine point for the lead, whilst Tara's equalised, Murphy's were no dominating, with Aoibhinn McKenna and Shona Cunningham covering the pitch. The pressure eventually paid off when Lorraine Dolan, expertly slotted home a penalty and then from another of Rosie Cully's runs Aoibhinn McKenna picked up a rebound and blasted a goal, to leave the final score, Fr Murphy's 3-08 to Tara 1-07

The half back line of Hilary Duncan,Sarah Burns and Rosie Cully played very well though out and the forwards really came into the own in the second half."

The Fr Murphy's had a few players who after tonight are moving on to pastures new. Team Captain Sinead White, is moving to Mayo, Lorraine Dolan is going to Qatar, Rosie Cully is moving home to Dublin and Hilary Duncan is moving back to Scotland.Along with Clare Laverty and Zoe Power, from Camogie, who are also moving on, it has been a pleasure to have these girls in the club and we have had some really great times together, we wish them the very best of luck in the future
