Tir Chonaill Gaels Club Notes 23/08/2010
Seniors:
The senior team put up a brave performance last Saturday against Neasden Gaels in the league at a windy Greenford.
Missing eight players from the previous weeks championship match the Gaels dug deep to earn a draw against a strong Neasden team.
Credit to the lads who stepped in and done themselves proud with youngster Ger Geraghty not looking out of place at corner back, JP O'Donnell and Benny Quinn back after long breaks along with Kevin Mc Fadden.
Final score, TCG 0-6 Neasden Gaels 0-6
Reserves:
The reserve team started and completed their championship group match on Sunday against the Tara with a comfortable 1-16 to 1-3 victory.
Best on the day were Stefan Carr, James Bonner, Tommy Moriarty and Benny Quinn with special mention for the vets Barry Mc Donagh, Paul Coggins who scored and Maurice Carr in Goals who managed to concede a goal from fifty yards out.
Fixtures:
The club has no fixtures this weekend.
Charity Cycles:
The club would like to congratulate former members Chris Mc Govern and Frank Glynn who completed a charity cycle last weekend in the Burren, Co Clare
.
Also best wishes to club members Brian Mc Brearty, Paddy Callaghan, JP O Donnell, Ronan Walsh and Declan Alcorn along with former members Paddy Mc Connighly and Declan Meehan who are doing a charity Cycle in Ireland.
The lads are cycling from Carlanstown, Co Meath to Fanad, Co Donegal on the weekend of 17/18th September to raise money for "Alannah's Search for Sight"
Alannah was diagnosed as blind (OND, Optic Nerve Hypoplasis) at just a few weeks old and told there is nothing can be done.
China gives hope, where before there was none, through stem cell treatment we hope that Alannah can get some sight.
Any donations would be greatly appreciated by contacting any of the above lads.
Charity Car Push:
Well done to club member Benny Quinn who completed a charity car push two weeks ago along with five friends from Birmingham to Donegal town.
