Fr Murphy's Ladies notes

June 15, 2009
The ladies football team is on top of the championship table, having comprehensively won their opening two games against Holloway Gaels and Parnells next up will be Tara's and then the very impressive John Mitchells of Birmingham. The camogie girls, the juniors especially are on fire at the moment, after beating championship favourites Tara's recently they followed up by beating Bros Pearse 3-03 to 1-03 what this team lacks in numbers it more than makes up for, in heart, determination and a never say die attitude. Although missing the srvices of Jackie Shiels and Sue Harding on Saturday last, players like Hannah Noonan and Edel Byrne, realy shone through, Anne Marie Keogh controlled the backline, whilst Emma Taylor contributed 2-02 to the cause, but around the centre of the field Sinead Kirk,Ruth Foley, Jade O Neill and Claire Towey, ran and scrapped for everything and some of their handpassing was a joy to watch, they now meet Green Isle in the semi final of the Junior championship Next Saturday they meet Croydon in The Senior Camogie championship, the final game in the league stages, and are on course for a semi final spot on July 4th. Last Saturday evening there was a big turnout of the girls at The Garryowen in Twickenham, sponsors of the club, who opened their new Beer Garden, a great night was had by all.
