London manager Ciaran Deely has revealed that the whole squad received a boost when three-time All-Ireland winner Owen Mulligan walked into the dressing room.
The Exiles made national headlines this year when Mulligan joined their ranks and Deely was delighted to have a player of the former Tyrone star's ability.
"Owen was absolutely brilliant from the moment he joined," Deely told the Irish Post. "It gave the whole team a real boost preparing for the Leitrim game.
"We don't have the option of regular competitive challenge matches to keep the players sharp so rustiness inevitably creeps in although that certainly wasn't an issue ahead of the Leitrim game.
"There was a feeling among the whole team that we left those games behind us. Leitrim and Carlow are good sides but a few individual errors and perhaps a lack of cuteness cost us."
