Greencastle prove too strong
19 February 2007Turning in a tremendous second-half performance, the Tyrone and Ulster JFC Greencastle booked their place in the All-Ireland Club JFC final with a fully deserved 0-12 to 1-5 success over Killala (Mayo) on Sunday, 18th of February at Markievicz Park, Sligo.
The Killala side got a dream start to this game with an early goal from attacking wing-half back Lorcan Brennan in the opening five minutes and went on to lead at the break by 1-5 to 0-5.
Greencastle came out for the start of the second-half in a very determined mood and slowly but surely worked their way back into the game. Towards the end of the third quarter they were on level terms 1-5 to 0-8 thanks to a Terry McDermott levelling point. However, from there to the end of the game, it was the Greencastle side who dictated the play and in the end they ran out worthy four points winners and a place in the All-Ireland Club JFC final.
