Greencastle go in search of All-Ireland Club JFC place

16 February 2007

Greencastle carry the hopes of the county on the club front this week-end when they face Connacht champions, Killala in the All-Ireland Club JFC semi-final at Markievicz Park, Sligo.

The prize for the winners of this game is a trip to Croke Park to play the final under the new floodlights at the Headquarters venue.

It has been more than two months since they won the Ulster title but the Greencastle team-manager Sean Teague and his backroom team have succeeded in keeping the players fresh during that long period of inactivity.

The Greencastle boss has seen Killala in action having seen the Mayo champions in action in their quarter-final win over the British champions, Fulham. He is in no doubt that his team face a formidable challenge on Sunday, but they are looking forward to the challenge.

“A big crowd from Greencastle and the surrounding areas are going to Sligo on Sunday hoping for success. It is a big occasion for all concerned, and hopefully the Greencastle side will do themselves justice on the day,’’ added Manager Teague.
