Tyrone's Ronan O'Neill celebrates scoring a goal against Cavan in the NFL Division 2 final

Ronan O'Neill says it was "massively important" for Tyrone to claim the national football league Division Two crown.

The Red Hands overcame Cavan in Sunday's all-Ulster decider at Croke Park and O'Neill, who fired the only goal of the game, feels it was a very important result for this group of players:

"It is massively important for this group of players. We've always come so close to trophies but we really needed to get a national silverware on board this year," the Omagh attacker stated in The Belfast Telegraph.

"Obviously it's a Division Two title but we're still happy enough to get a national title and it will give us confidence going into the Championship. We have that unbeaten record in Division Two and hopefully we can bring that into the Championship."

As for his match-winning 49th-minute pile-driver, the 22-year-old adds: "Mattie [Donnelly] played a great ball, it was straight in front of the net. I'm up there to put the ball in the back of the net. Sometimes they don't go in but thankfully this one did."
