Tyrone full back Ronan McNamee is taking an extended break from the game.

And the Ulster Herald is speculating that he could be off to Australia where he has a number of family relations.

The Aghyaran clubman is sure to be a big loss to the Red Hands when the new season gets underway. He was outstanding in the number three shirt as they recovered from an Ulster SFC preliminary round loss to Donegal on May 17 to reach last month's All-Ireland semi-final.

Mickey Harte's defence conceded just one goal in seven championship games, which was scored by Donegal's Martin McElhinney. McNamee was rumoured to be heading to the US after Tyrone's early Ulster SFC exit, but decided to stay at home and went on to play a leading role in their prolonged championship run.
