Gormley pities goalkeepers

Tyrone's Conor Gormley
Conor Gormley believes the new square-ball rule will place goalkeepers under pressure.

The rule change could come into effect for this summer's provincial championships and Tyrone defender Gormley says it could make life easier for defenders but more complicated for netminders:

"When you have the likes of Kieran Donaghy, maybe Benny Coulter - Dermot Earley was on the edge of the square against Galway - they are dangerous, it is going to be hard," he comments in The Examiner.

"I suppose a lot of pressure is going to be placed on the goalkeeper maybe to come out and command that area or clear the ball.

"I probably would be in favour of it from a defender's [perspective]. It would probably clear up some of that controversy that surrounds the square ball."
