Hughes speaks of tough decision

Monaghan's Damien Freeman puts pressure on Tyrone's Kevin Hughes during last years Ulster SFC final at Clones.
Kevin Hughes says his decision to retire from intercounty football was a "very tough" one.
'Hub' has called time on his illustrious 14-year career with Tyrone and - speaking in this morning's Irish News - he says:
"It was a very tough decision. I've been thinking about it over the last three months. I met with Mickey in October time and discussed the year ahead.
"I wasn't sure what I wanted to do. My wife was expecting at that time and it was still too close to the Dublin defeat.
"I agreed with Mickey that I would do the pre-season and not make a decision until after the McKenna Cup.
"I have been having trouble with a hip injury too and I didn't get out onto the field as much as I would have liked.
"But, with our child arriving, and thinking about the amount of commitment required with Tyrone, football wasn't the highest priority on the list."
