Penrose praised

Tyrone's Martin Penrose
Martin Penrose left the Morgan Athletic Grounds yesterday with the praise of Mickey Harte and Peter Canavan ringing in his ears.

While his Tyrone team-mate Mark Donnelly was named man of the match, the Aghyaran forward had a huge influence on the game following his 33rd minute introduction as the Red Hands beat Fermanagh for the second time in four days to book a place in next weekend's final against Derry.

"There was an urgency about our play in the second half that was a bit missing in the first half. I suppose the introduction of Martin Penrose was a serious factor as well," Tyrone boss Harte said.

"He's great to get about the place and put in the tackles, there's a speed about him that threatens the opposition. I think they weren't able to handle that when he came to the fore."

Fermanagh manager Canavan noted: "I don't think there's a better tackler in the game at the minute (than Penrose) and he won a lot of possession around the middle and used it well.

"Then, when you've someone like Stephen O'Neill to spring from the bench, he's always going to add something to your attack and they always had a spring in their step in the last 15 minutes."
