In a week when he became a grandfather, Tyrone manager Mickey Harte is delighted with the progress of his new look side.

The O'Neill County made it two wins from as many McKenna Cup games with a five point success in Casement Park and it was the displays of some of the newer players that most pleased their manager.

"It is a work in progress, it is great to see young men coming on," said Harte.

"I think Peter Hughes had a great game there today at centre forward. He wore the number 11 and he was all over the place, back defending, making tackles, creating scores and going right at the very end.

"Ronan O'Neill playing his first full game. It is tough going but he is learning every game.

"All in all it is a work in progress. It is not a finished product but there's not many a finished product at this time anyway."

And after a difficult week in which marked the first anniversary of the death of his daughter Michaela McAreavey, there was good news with the birth of young Liam Harte on Friday, to Mickey's son Michael.
