Debut delight for Lafferty
January 10, 2012
Tyrone new boy Jonny Lafferty was pleased with how his senior intercounty debut went.
The 25-year-old from Urney caught the eye with a powerful performance on the edge of the square in Sunday's McKenna Cup win over Queen's at Omagh and has targeted further progress in 2012:
"It's early days. It's a good step up but one that I'm hoping to achieve quite quickly because, at 25, there are a lot of boys at 19 and 20 looking for spots - they're going to be there a long time," he states in the Irish News.
"It's nice to get a debut and to get the full game is a bonus. There are a lot of boys waiting for their chance so I was happy enough to get staying on and to get a few scores too.
"I'm happy to be involved and I'm going to give it a good shot. You just wait for your chance and when you do get your chance try your best to take it; that's my aim at the minute."
